We've all done it: You find a weird bump and immediately go online to try to diagnose and treat yourself. While you may steer clear of open online health forums, new research has found that the answers given there are surprisingly legit. For the study, which was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, researchers from Royal Holloway, University of London asked doctors and non-doctors to rate the medical advice given on 25 health discussion threads. Overall, the information was rated as pretty accurate. Surprisingly, researchers said they had difficulty finding wrong answers.
